The brewery started life as Barron Brewery when it was set up in 1984 by Richard Barron. Guy Sheppard joined Richard in 1991 and the name was changed to Exe Valley Brewery. Richard retired from the brewery in 2003; and Guy continues to run the brewery now on his own account. Exe Valley Brewery operates from a converted barn in the hills above the Devon village of Silverton; brewing traditional beers using its own spring water, Devon malted barley and English hops. We brew 6 regular beers, seasonal beers and occasional brews, all of which are only available on draught. We are part of the Festival Bar in the Castle Courtyard where you will find our Darkest Devon (3.9% dark mild), Dob's Best Bitter (4.1.% bitter - our best seller) and Spring Beer (4.3% Golden Beer).
