Grow your own at Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink 2012

Written: 03 January 2012

Introduce your family to the joys of growing and eating fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs with the new Grow Your Own area at the famous Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink, Friday 13th – Sunday 15th April 2012.

Bringing the kitchen garden to the Festival, the Fermoy’s Grow Your Own area features a mini show garden with BBQ cooking demonstrations, an advice station with handy tips for growing your own from BBCGardeners’ Question Time regulars Pippa Greenwood and Matt Biggs,as well as herbs, fruit and vegetable plants for sale. Children and adults can also have a go on the fairground style Grow Your Own Hoopla with prizes of veg seeds for all winners – great for encouraging mini green fingers!

Inspiring families to get out into their own gardens and grow their own, the area will give visitors practical ideas and projects to try. Kitchen garden specialist, broadcaster and journalist Pippa Greenwood will be on the stand on Saturday 14th April giving visitors the tricks of the trade while horticulturalist and radio personality Matthew Biggs will be passing on his knowledge on the stand throughout Friday 13th April.

Pippa Greenwood says, ““I am delighted to be going to the Exeter Food Festival in 2012 with Stewart Gardens and Fermoys.I’m looking forward to chatting about grow your own with people.

Stewart’s product range demonstrates a real and long term commitment to the grow your own movement – something that everyone knows I am passionate about. I believe that, together, we can help gardeners everywhere get the very most from their grow your own efforts.”
